MANUAL 6: SAVING MOTHERS AND BABIES
The manual was developed in response to the high maternal and perinatal mortality rates found in most developing countries. Learning material used in the manual is based on the results of the annual confidential enquiries into maternal deaths and the Saving Mothers and Saving Babies reports published in South Africa.
The five units address the basic principles of mortality audit, maternal mortality, perinatal mortality, and managing mortality meetings. and ways of reducing maternal and perinatal mortality rates (Units 46-50). Professor Bob Pattinson was invited to co-edit this manual which should partner the Perinatal Problem Identification Programme (PPIP).
