NEWBORN CARE MANUAL
Manual II of the Perinatal Education Programme consists of 15 theory units and 9 skills
workshops which address all aspects of newborn care. Most participants take a year to
complete the manual.

The Newborn Care manual was first published in 1992 and later revised in 1996 and again in 2005.
By the end of 2000, a total of 9832 Newborn Care manuals had been used in South Africa.
The Maternal and Newborn care manuals together form the basic PEP course.
